Em McDermott is the author of dark fantasies that often feature romance. A lifelong dreamer, Em’s great loves—the ocean, dragons, and ancient mythology—find their way often into her worlds, which she populates with love, nature, and heroines who craft their own destinies.
She spent high school reading novels during math class, which perhaps explains her appalling understanding of physics. This is why she does not write science fiction. In college, she majored in ancient classics because the hydra of Greek mythology were the closest she could get to a degree in dragons.
Most days, she can be found writing in a cabin in the woods of upstate NY. She shares her home with her polyamorous family including two partners, a small flock of dragons (cough, cough, pet chickens), and more zucchini plants than is entirely reasonable.
